Champignon Patties

  • 4 Philly Gourmet® 100% Beef Homestyle Patties
  • 4 onion rolls
  • 4 slices sweet onion
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 slices Gruyere cheese (you can use a mild Swiss)
  • 1/2 cup (about 4 oz.) sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. white ground pepper
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup red wine or milk

Toast the rolls until golden brown. In a large frying pan, sauté the whole onion slices, in melted butter until soft. Place onion slices on rolls. Top with slice of cheese. Keep warm.

In same pan, fry the patties as directed on package. Remove and place on top of onion slices on rolls and keep warm. Remove drippings, reserving about 2 Tbsp.

In same pan, add mushrooms and sauté for 3 minutes on medium heat until softened. Once softened, add salt, pepper, sour cream and wine. Stir until well mixed, and cook until heated through, about 5 minutes. Pour over patties, and top with other half of roll.

Note: You can use this same sauce with Philly Gourmet® Sandwich Steaks for a creamy version of a steak sandwich.
