Proof that a little patience pays off—especially when onions are involved. These Caramelized Onion Burgers bring together juicy Philly Gourmet 100% Beef Patties, sharp cheddar, and a slow-cooked pile of golden, jammy onions that do all the talking. Add a swipe of that classic, tangy special sauce and a fresh slice of tomato, and suddenly this isn’t just a burger—it’s a quietly confident overachiever that doesn’t need to shout to steal the show.
Ingredients:
- 4 Philly Gourmet® 100% Beef Patties
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup of special sauce
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 4 brioche burger buns, toasted
Let’s do it…
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and golden-brown, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Season patties with salt and pepper and add to grill. Cook patties according to package directions. With about 1 minute remaining on cook time, top the patties evenly with cheese.
- Top bottom buns evenly with special sauce, tomato, one patty, caramelized onions and top buns.
Tip: To make special sauce, combine 1 cup mayonnaise, 1/4 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup sweet pickle relish and 2 tablespoons mustard in a small bowl.
