This is what happens when bacon stops playing a supporting role and takes over the whole show. These Bacon Jam Burgers pile juicy Philly Gourmet 100% Pure Beef Patties with melty American cheese, then crown them with a rich, sticky-sweet bacon jam loaded with caramelized onions, maple, and just enough heat to keep things interesting. It’s smoky, savory, a little indulgent, and absolutely worth every napkin you’re about to go through.
Ingredients:
- 4 Philly Gourmet® 100% Pure Beef Patties
- 1/2 pound bacon, diced
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce, such as Sriracha
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices yellow American cheese
- 4 brioche burger buns, toasted
- 1 cup mayonnaise, for serving
Let’s do it…
- Heat large skillet over medium heat. Add bacon and cook until crispy and fully browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and transfer to a paper-towel-lined plate to drain. Add onion to remaining bacon fat in skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly caramelized and tender, about 8-10 minutes. Add garlic, and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add brown sugar, maple syrup, vinegar and hot sauce, and stir to combine. Bring mixture to a simmer and return bacon to skillet. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened and jammy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Season patties with salt and pepper, and add to grill. Cook patties according to package directions. With about 1 minute remaining on cook time, top patties evenly with cheese.
- Top bottom buns each evenly with mayonnaise, one patty, a generous spoonful of bacon jam, and the top bun.
